Winter Stillness Haiku

Winter Stillness Haiku

From a retreat at Villa Maria del Mar

Fingers poised on keyboard,

curving waves about to crest,

unfurling power.

Sun splits winter clouds.

Wounded cypress at cliff’s edge

flaunts lopped limbs.

Rolling whitecaps roar

and fade, ever freshening

The silent now.
